Plot
The Escape: Rajeshwari, a young Brahmin woman, abandons her conventional, worldly husband to live with Ameer, a man from a different community.
The Life at Maidanam: The couple settles in a remote, desolate place (the 'Maidanam' or plains), where Rajeshwari lives in poverty and faces personal challenges to her freedom and innocence.
The Conflict: The narrative explores the complex dynamics of their relationship and the introduction of a teenager named Meera, which changes the dynamics of their lives.
The Tragic Climax: Ameer returns later to realize the situation, leading to a violent confrontation where he eventually kills himself in the melee after feeling unable to share her.
